One Year

One year.

That's what I've been telling myself.

Give myself a year of building this business with everything I've got and see what happens.

Do I think this business will be "built" in a year? No. Far from it.

But the one-year mark from today will give me clarity. It will give me information about what works and what doesn't. It will tell me if we've achieved product-market fit at some level of scale. It will tell me if people with capital are interested in backing not only the brand, but me, the founder.

In one year I know I'll have more insight and wisdom than I do today.

Do I know where this thing will be in a year? Not really. I've been making plans and laying down the foundation, but honestly, I don't know where this will be in a year. Could it be wildly successful? Maybe. Could it crash and burn? Also maybe. But there's only one way to find out.

Sometimes giving yourself a real time block and real constraints takes the pressure off and lets you focus on what's in front of you.

Give yourself the freedom to go for it.

Because without constraints, there's nothing to measure against.

And when nobody is there to hold you accountable, will you still hold yourself to a higher standard?

As for me, we'll see in a year.
